The Grand Old Post Office, or GOPO as we call it around here, has been converted by the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology into student housing. The cherry on top of the sundae here is a beautiful mural by Okmulgee native Carmen Taylor.
“It illustrates the cowboy spirit of the school and the state,” Taylor said. “The 46 cent price is in reference to the year the school was founded, 1946, and the 46 students who enrolled that first year.”
Our fourth mural, Okmulgee’s love of art and the continued mural initiative guarantees there’ll always be something new to come and see!
Located at the corner of Fifth Street and Grand Avenue.
